AFP Internships

Throughout the academic year, the AFP offers an array of internships through which students can begin to apply their Arabic linguistic skills to real-world work experience. Below you will find a listing of the typical internships we offer. The internships vary each semester and coincide with AFP projects and initiatives. They are also only available to current Flagship students.

AFP Office Assistant Intern
The AFP Office Assistant Intern will work with AFP staff and outside vendors, and interact with students to carry out administrative duties as they relate to Flagship operations and programs. The position involves conducting research, assisting with project planning, coordinating events and programs, promotional material development and administrative duties as assigned. Candidates must have completed two years of Arabic study and should be able to commit 8 – 10 hours per week during the semester.

Web & Social Media Intern
The Web & Social Media Intern will aid the AFP in its goal of enhancing the program’s online presence through improvements to the AFP website and the development and maintenance of student blogs.

Arabic House Resident Assistant
The Arabic House Resident Assistant (RA) will serve as the peer leader of Arabic House, supervising the student residents who live therein under an Arabic Language Pledge, and planning and executing house events. The time commitment will be approximately 4 hours per week. The minimum level of Arabic required is 3rd year or above.

Video Cataloging Intern
As a Video Cataloging Intern, you will watch, categorize, and convert videos to DVDs and then create a library with labels on DVDs, and an index. The minimum level of Arabic is 3rd year or above and we ask that you dedicate 6 - 8 hours per week to the internship, working with Mahmoud Al-Batal.

Language & Culture Program Mentor
The AFP is seeking Langauge & Culture Program Mentors who have completed a minimum of 4th year Arabic, with 5th year Arabic highly preferred. A commitment of 3 - 5 hours per week will be expected for tutoring students and occasionally attending events to provide support, etc.
