Arabic House

Arabic House is a cooperative, co-ed and AFFORDABLE living environment where Arabic Flagship students, visiting scholars and general students of Arabic will live together under an Arabic Language Pledge. The mission of Arabic House is to create an immersion experience wherein residents can improve their Arabic language skills.

The living environment we have selected for Arabic House is a modern and recently constructed duplex, in the center of trendy Hyde Park. The duplex is spacious with vaulted ceilings, stained concrete flooring, modern appliances and cabinetry, and an outdoor garden patio with a grill. The duplex is also conveniently located on the UT Shuttle Route.

Residents of Arabic House will be supplied with basic furnishings and the common areas will be outfitted with comfortable armchairs, sofas, and side tables. An Arabic Language Pledge will be administered in the house, as will a division of labor and house “Rules to Live By.”

Incorporated into the living environment will be a host of cultural events ranging from authentic Middle Eastern dinners to weekly films and weekend barbecues. Groceries, bills and property maintenance are included in the monthly rent, which will be $850 for a single room.
